3. Hazards identification
Critical to man and the environment:
to man:
Cement dust: Risk of serious eye damage. Seems irritating to humid skin. Inhalation seems irritating to mucous membranes in upper airways and may irritate throat and give coughing.
Cement mixed with water: By mixing with water calcium hydroxide is generated which may seem strongly irritant to corrosive on skin and eyes. Risk of serious eye damage. Please see item 7 and 8 for product handling and item 11 for toxicological information.
to the environment: The product is immobile. It does not degrade in nature.

4. First-aid measures
By inhalation: Seek fresh air. Keep the injured person under observation. By continuous discomfort seek medical attention and bring along this safety data sheet.
By skin contact: Immediately remove contaminated clothes. Wash skin with water and soap. By continuous discomfort seek medical advice.
By eye contact: Rinse immediately with water (preferably from eye wash) for at least 15 minutes. Open eyes widely and remove possible contact lenses. Seek medical advice immediately and continue rinsing till doctor takes over treatment when possible.
By ingestion: Rinse out mouth thoroughly with water and then drink plenty of water or milk. Keep the injured person under observation. Do not try to induce vomiting. By vomiting keep head low and call doctor/ambulance immediately. Show this safety data sheet to the doctor.

5. Fire-fighting measures
Suitable extinguishing media: The products are not inflammable. Choose extinguishing medias in accordance with surrounding fires.
Can be released in a fire: By heating/fire harmful gases may be generated.
Special protective equipment for fire fighters: By surrounding fires avoid inhalation of steams and gases - use air-provided breathing apparatus, gloves, face protection and coveralls.
6. Accidental release measures
Personal precautions: Use the same personal protection as mentioned in item 8.
Methods for cleaning up: Use a vacuum cleaner - if this is not possible avoid formation/spreading of dust.
7. Handling and storage Handling
Precautions for safe handling: Avoid formation of dust. There must be easy access to running water and eye wash. Wash hands before breaks, toilet visits and after work. Use personal protection as mentioned in item 8.
Storage
Conditions for safe storage: Store in closed original packaging in a dry place.
Further information about storage: Keep out of reach of children. Do not store together with food, animal feeding stuffs, remedies and the like.
Storage class: To be stored in accordance with local and/or national regulations.
8. Exposure controls/
personal protection
Additional information about design of technical systems: Sufficient ventilation must be established (for instance mechanical ventilation, local exhaust ventilation or the like). If this is not possible technically use breathing apparatus as stated below.
Components with critical values that require monitoring at the workplace:
CAS No. Designation Type Value and unit
1305-62-0 Calcium hydroxide EOS 5mg/m3
65997-15-1 Portland cement, total inhalable dust EOS 10 mg/m3
65997-15-1 Portland cement, respirabel dust EOS 4 mg/m3
According to EH40/97 Occupational exposure limits 1997
Personal protection:
Respiratory protection: By dusting work and mixing with water a dust mask has to be worn with particle filter P2.
Hand protection: Wear protective gloves of PVC or neoprene.

Conditions to avoid: Humidity will lead to hardening into a hard mass.
Materials to avoid: Contact with water will make the product harden.
11. Toxicological information
Known delayed effects: Repeated prolonged inhalation of cement dust may cause serious lung damage.
Immediate effects:
- skin contact: The product is not classified as irritating to skin. However, after contact with water skin irritating substances are developed.
- eye contact: Risk of serious eye damage.
- inhalation: Inhalation of cement dust may irritate mucous membranes in upper airways and lead to irritation of throat and give coughing.
- ingestion: Not very likely, as the products are powders. However, ingestion will lead to strong irritation, possible corrosion, of mouth and stomach/intestinal canals depending on the quantity of the consumed.
- sensitization: If the conditions for storage are not kept the chrome neutralization will decline. If this happens there is a risk of sensitization by contact with the products.
