| Surfaces |
|
Cement/sand rendering, brickwork and aerated concrete.
Concrete screed with and without heating, approx. 14 days old.
Lightweight concrete tiles, max. moisture content 8%.
Flooring containing cement-based levelling compound.
Anhydrite floors, max. residual moisture 0.5%.
Concrete in situ and precast units/slabs, older than 2 months.
Paper-faced plaster boards, fibre-reinforced plaster boards, calcium silicate boards.
Existing tiles, terrazzo.
Vinyl and paint on concrete.
Alfix Sealing Membrane.
Plaster, wood, existing tiles, vinyl and painted surfaces are not considered suitable surfaces for outdoor use or in areas exposed to frequent or permanent water.
|
|
| Surface preparation |
The surface must be dimensionally stable and free from dust, grease and laitance. There should be no blooms or crack formations. Remove grease and soap residues with Alfix Deep Cleaner. Ensure that pain is sufficiently adhering and does not rub off. Sand/matt vinyl and paint using suitable sandpaper.
Straightening of lumps and unevenness of up to 10 mm can be carried out using Alfix CombiQuickfix.
On extremely absorbent indoor surfaces, such as untreated aerated concrete, gypsum plaster, plaster boards, calcium silicate boards and anhydrite floors, apply Alfix Primer (Sealing Primer) and Alfix PlaneMixPrimer.
For outdoor use on absorbent surfaces, apply a thin layer of Alfix CombiQuickfix.
Apply a thin contact layer of Alfix CombiQuickfix on dense surfaces such as vinyl and existing tiles.
Drying time before fixing of tiles: approx. 3 hours.

|
| Mixing and fixing |
Add 0.21-0.26 litres of clean, cold water per kg powder corresponding to 4.2-5.2 litres per. 20 kg bag, depending on whether the product is to be used as a wall adhesive or an easy-flowing floor adhesive.
Apply Alfix CombiQuickfix to the surface with a notched trowel, using the straight edge to spread out adhesive and subsequently the notched edge to produce a ribbed bed.
Fix tiles within 15 minutes by pressing them firmly into position in the wet adhesive with a slight twisting action. When fixing mosaics, a firm tap is required.
Check that the back of the tile is covered!
For tile sizes exceeding 60 x 60 cm, apply adhesive to both tiles and surface to ensure solid bedding leaving no voids (buttering/floating method).
For outdoor use, e.g. stairs and facades, always use the buttering/floating method.
Note!
Large-sized tiles and natural stones may call for extra attention.
Additional water should not be added to adhesive already starting to set.
Note that the temperature of mixing water will shorten pot-life and setting time.
Repositioning of tiles should be done within approx. 15 minutes after fixing, depending on substrate and tile absorbency.
Switch off any underfloor heating.

|
| Cleaning |
Remove Alfix CombiQuickfix residue on tiles and tools with water before it sets.
Cement-based products harden when mixed with water, therefore never flush any residues into the sewage system.
