How to use
Surfaces
Concrete
Surface preparation
All surfaces should be structurally sound and clean, free from dust, grease, salt, dirt, and other contaminations.
Damaged concrete should be removed.
Depending on surface condition, grit or high water pressure blasting may be required. Cohesion strength should be ≥ 1.5 N/mm²
Possible reinforcing steel should be corrosion resistant.
To improve adhesion and ensure optimum result, always apply bonding coat of Alfix PlaneMix S40 and Alfix PlaneMixPrimer in the ratio 1:1.
Apply bonding coat by broom or large brush to full coverage.
How to use
For mixing use approx. 2.7 litre (floor) or 3.0 litre (wall) clean, cold water per 20 kg powder. Pour water into a clean container, sprinkle in powder while stirring until a lump free, smooth mixture is obtained. Use forced action pan mixer or suitable paddle attached to electric drill. Allow the mortar to rest for a few minutes, remix briefly and the mixture is ready for use.
Apply mortar onto damp substrate using trowel or screeding board within 8 hours after application of bond coat.
For large areas, use guide battens and levelling batten. Cut edges and joints in square angles to a min. depth of 5 mm to avoid weak overbridging.
Once the mortar has begun to stiffen, smooth and finish surface by float. Layer thickness: Max. 40 mm
NB!
Additional water should not be added to a mixture already starting to set.
Exterior work with should only take place in dry weather at temperatures from +5°C - +25°C. Avoid direct sunlight. If rainy weather or temperatures below +5°C are forecast, cover surfaces. Avoid exterior repairs and levelling during winter.
Cleaning
Clean residues from tools with water before the mortar sets. Cement-based products harden when mixed with water, hence do not dispose of excess material by pouring into drainage system.
