Meet an Alfix’er – Henning from production

- Henning Bo Kristensen – tell us a bit about your department and your assignments:

“The Alfix powder department consists of three process installations, which we commonly refer to as the Yellow, White and Blue plants. We mainly produce levelling compound, tile adhesive and grouts here, using fully automated facilities that have access to 22 silos containing various raw materials. For smaller volumes of raw materials, we use trays and small containers that we can switch between the different stations. Each installation has its own packaging line that principally packs products in sacks weighing from 3.5 kg to 20 kg. The finished sacks are loaded automatically onto pallets and transported on conveyors directly to the warehouse, where they’re stocked prior to delivery to our customers.”

- What are your tasks, specifically?

“As a process operator and machine supervisor at the blue plant, my working day is extremely varied. Together with my colleague Magnus, it’s my job to make sure that we meet the production targets for the day, and to carry out ongoing quality control. While one production run is under way, we prepare the following ones. We need to check and receive products from the silos, fill the containers with sack products, make sure there are sufficient bags and so on. The point is to ensure that we can start the next production run as quickly as possible. If repairs are needed, we deal with them between production runs, and for major repairs it is sometimes necessary to shut down production for a while. No matter what we’re working on, we always do our very best to ensure that customers receive their goods on time.”

- What makes for a particularly good day at work?

“Working days at Alfix are particularly good when the production facility has been running optimally all day. That means that we’ve all contributed to delivering on time.”
