How to use
Surfaces
Concrete.
Vinyl, PVC pool-liners and steel plates
Wooden boards on floor in dry locations. Moisture content 7 - 12%
Wooden boards on floor in wet rooms with Alfix sealant.
Substrates from PVC, vinyl, and steel plates are generally not considered suitable for exterior use or in areas exposed to frequent or permanent water.
Surface preparation
The surface should be clean and free from dust, grease, and laitance. There should be no blooms or crack formations. Residues from grease or soap can be removed with Alfix Deep Cleaner.
Mat or sand PVC and vinyl.
Protect steel from corrosion. Stainless steel has to be degreased.
How to use
Mixing with tile adhesive: Mix Alfix FlexBinder with clean water 1:1 and stir in:
Alfix LetFix, Alfix LetFix Universal, Alfix NormalFix, Alfix ProFix, Alfix CombiQuickFix or Alfix QuickFix premium. Adjust the proportion of FlexBinder/water depending on the required consistency, i.e. whether it is being used as a wall adhesive or free-flowing floor adhesive. To achieve CE classification as an S2 adhesive, mix two parts binder to one part water.
Contact layer or adhesive primer: On smooth or compact surfaces, create a contact layer with a smooth mix of Alfix NormalFix, Alfix ProFix or Alfix QuickFix premium mixed with concentrated Alfix FlexBinder.
Thickness: Max. 1 mm. Drying time: 1-2 days.
On vinyl (not pools), steel and epoxy coatings, it is possible to apply an adhesive primer in a rollable consistency as an alternative: Mix Alfix FlexBinder with water 1:1, and stir in approx. 0.5 litres per kg of Alfix ProFix or Alfix QuickFix premium. Thickness: Max. 1 mm. Drying time: 1-2 days.
NB!
Switch off any underfloor heating.
Additional water or Alfix FlexBinder should not be added to adhesive already starting to set.
This admix improves adhesion which calls for extra attention when cleaning tiles and tools.
Compared to conventional adhesives exclusively mixed with water, setting time may be extended.
Cleaning
Clean adhesive residues from tools and tiles with water before the admix sets. Once dried, Flexbinder can only be removed mechanically or with solvent.
